Crafting your Personal Narrative & Artist Bio
Saturday, September 28th @ 2pm - 5pm
If writing about yourself has felt like an overwhelming or agonizing task in the past, learn the simple tips and tricks to help put yourself out there in less time, with less effort.
This professional writing workshop will help artists build "About Me" pages, write mission statements and understand how to write biographies and personal narratives for use in their professional communications.
Learn to Love Your Artist Statement
Sunday, September 29th @ 11am - 3:30pm
Learn how to produce a well-written, informative artist statement that will make your packet, press release, or proposal stand out from the rest of the crowd.
This workshop helps artists who are uncomfortable with writing about their artwork to learn to articulate what is unique about their work and discover the original viewpoint or ambition present in what they create.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Robin Grearson is a writer, instructor and writing consultant based in Brooklyn, NY. She has been published in The New York Times, The Brooklyn Rail and her personal essay In Defense of the Artist Statement was featured on Hyperallergic earlier this year.
After curating several exhibitions featuring emerging artists a few years ago, Robin discovered the resistance artists often have to writing about themselves and their work. Drawing from her background as a writer and a former business owner, she developed workshops designed to help artists and other creatives to find the words that match their thoughts and ideas.
These workshops are funded in part by the DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities, an agency supported in part by theNational Endowment for the Arts.
THANK YOU!
