Introducing the 2012 Hamiltonian Fellows

Hamiltonian Gallery’s six new, distinguished fellows make their debut in the annual group exhibition new. (now). The gallery is thrilled to introduce:

  • Milana Braslavsky (MFA, University of Pennsylvania)
  • Annette Isham (MFA, American University)
  • Amy Boone-McCreesh (MFA, Towson University)
  • Billy Friebele (MFA, Maryland Institute College of Art)
  • Timothy Thompson (MFA, Maryland Institute College of Art)
  • Jerry Truong (MFA, University of California, San Diego)   

The 2012 Hamiltonian Fellows were selected from a pool of over 160 promising artists who applied to the fellowship program this year.  The fellows were selected by an external review panel comprised of six acclaimed art professionals, and were evaluated on criteria including artistic merit, relevance to today's art world, and the candidate's potential to thrive within the program.  The gallery would like to express its sincere thanks to the panelists for their generosity and enthusiastic support of this endeavor:

  • Doreen Bolger - Executive Director, Baltimore Museum of Art
  • Zoe Charlton - Visual Artist, Co-Director of MFA Program, American University
  • Katherine Mann - Visual Artist, Hamiltonian Fellow Alumna

Hamiltonian Gallery is a dynamic space in the heart of the growing Washington, DC contemporary arts district. In partnership with Hamiltonian Artists, the gallery promotes the artistic and professional development of emerging artists. Through dynamic exhibitions, artist talks and collaborative programming, we seek to broaden the cultural dialogue within our modern community.

As we conclude our third year of outstanding artist-centric programming, Hamiltonian Artists has named five new, distinguished Hamiltonian Fellows for 2011 to join our five existing Fellows.  We are thrilled to introduce:

·      Sarah Knobel (MFA, University of Cincinatti)
·      Matthew Mann (MFA, American University)
·      Jenny Mullins (MFA, Maryland Institute College of Art)
·      Joshua Wade Smith (MFA, Maryland Institute College of Art, Mt. Royal School of Art)
 

The five new 2011 So-Hamiltonian Fellows were selected from a pool of over 150 very promising artists who applied this year.  The External Review Panel, comprised of six incredibly acclaimed art professionals, caucused together and evaluated every application based on criteria regarding artistic merit and relevance to today's art world, and were asked to gauge how well the potential fellow would thrive within the fellowship program.  We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the panelists for their generosity and enthusiastic support of this endeavor:

After another outstanding year of artist-centric programming, Hamiltonian Artists has selected five new, distinguished Hamiltonian Fellows for 2010 to join our five existing Fellows. We are thrilled to introduce:

Ryan Hoover (MFA, Maryland Institute College of Art, Mount Royal School of Art)

Joyce Lee (MFA, Maryland Institute College of Art, Mount Royal School of Art)

Jessica Van Brakle (BFA, Corcoran Collge of Art + Design)

Elena Volkova (MFA, Maryland Institute College of Art)

On Saturday, July 24, 2010, from 7-9pm, Hamiltonian Gallery will open an introductory group exhibition of these five new Fellows. Each artist will be displaying the work with which they were accepted. The exhibition will run from July 24 - September 4, 2010. Please join us!

The five new 2010 So-Hamiltonian Fellows were selected from a pool of over 130 very promising applicants this year. Hamiltonian Artists brought together seven incredibly acclaimed art professionals to comprise the External Review Panel. The External Review Panel caucused together, and evaluated every application based on criteria regarding technical merit, originality and relevance to today’s art world. Panelists were also asked to discuss how well they thought the applicant would benefit from the program that Hamiltonian provides.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the panelists for their generosity and enthusiastic support of this endeavor:
