Ghost Chair | Curated by Deric Carner and Natalia Nakazawa
Hamiltonian Artists presents the annual Fellows Converge exhibition featuring nine current and outgoing Hamiltonian Fellows working across media including video, painting, photography, installation, and sculpture. Guest curators Deric Carner and Natalia Nakazawa of The Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts (EFA) selected works in conversation with the artists around ideas of place, connection, ground and body. The artworks in the show represent a diverse set of perspectives, each strongly situated in their outlook and methodology. Ghost Chair suggests that formal elements serve as transparent or occult armatures to support deeply personal and embodied histories.
Hamiltonian Gallery is pleased to announce “Harvester’s Dilemma,” its second solo exhibition by Patrick Harkin. A reception will be held for the artist on Saturday, 10 August from 6 - 9pm.
Hamiltonian Gallery presents two new exhibitions by artists Ellen Xu and Brian Michael Dunn. “棒渣 | Bang Zha”and “Parallel Botany” will be on view from June 29 - August 3, 2019, with an opening reception on Saturday, June 29 from 7 - 9 pm and an artist talk on Tuesday, July 16 at 7 pm.
Antonio McAfee’s “Ordinary People” is a photo-installation-based homage to extraordinary black women of the past and present. Utilizing his inimitable photo-collage technique, McAfee combines fragments of images on acrylic medium to construct larger-than-life sized figures that hover in space like totemic apparitions.
Hamiltonian Gallery is pleased to present two new bodies of work by artists Kaitlin Jencso and Sera Boeno. “Looking Glass” and “Kelimeler Kıyafetsiz (:Words Naked/Are Not Enough)” will open on Saturday, April 6 from 7 - 9 pm with a short performance; both artists will be in attendance.
